Earthy colours clutch

I fell in love with this Liberty print, but cannot quite describe what it represents – animal pelt, feathers, or simply abstract brushstrokes? In any case, it is prefect to channel both the safari look  and something a little more arty or rock n’roll! The design is flame coloured: yellow and
earthy red orange, a little reddish brown on a cream background. The colours are also quite similar to those used by Australian Aboriginals... so there's a lot to like about this clutch!

A silvery grey version in silk will be coming soon!

New clutch! The history of costume!

The pictures did not come too well, it must have been too late or too dark when I took them!
I'm quite pleased with this clutch - the print is an history of costume from around 1500 to 1800. The fabric is an organic cotton with a lovely satin sheen, so it works well as an eveningish bag. It is lined in cream silk satin, so feels very luxurious!

::::new::: winter blue clutches

A little while ago, I bought some lovely fabrics from Liberty. I selected a few in blue tones, as it is so wintery chic. These two clutches are made of a cotton lawn called "detritus" and is designed by Anj Smith. The fabric is part of the Liberty art collection, a selection of fabrics designed by artists.

I chose this Anj Smith design, as I really liked the intricate detailing, its pencil drawn style and the stag's heads! Smith's paintings often incorporate references to the realms of fashion, nature and popular culture. It seems that the design she created for Liberty was inspired by the memory of her mothers’ kitchen curtains...

Sadly, the weather was a bit too cloudy when I photographed the clutches, so the pictures are not perfect and I will have to redo them at the weekend!
