Button pins set...

There are coming up in my shops, and aren't they good stocking stuffers? Talking of which, I've started making stockings... and hope to finish these soon!

Appearing in my stores...

Golden yellow on green gingham

Preppy felt bows on cotton covered badges
Aren't these cute? The button badges are just over 3 cm (1 1/4") wide. Hand-making the bows was a little tricky at first. I tried smaller, but there were too bulky and too fiddly! I'm happy with this size, they "poke" out a little from the buttons but it's kind of quirky!

These badges are one of the first things I handcrafted since moving to Canada. My supplies only reached me in September, it took a bit of time to organise my flat and my studio space.

Since moving to Montreal, I found it difficult to find nice fabrics and gingham, so I'm using the bits and pieces I moved!

In the shop...

and I'm quite pleased with this picture!
I'm getting more organised! I've inventoried all my stock, and I've started listing the purses I made but never got to list... So here is a Liberty print chain clutch, in glorious jewel tones, emerald, amber and touches of rubies...

A retro cute cowboy coin purse.. sample sale

I'm having a studio tidy, so I'll be listing a few sample items on etsy. This is the first of these items, a retro cute cowboy coin purse! I did not place the horse where I wanted to, so I couldn't place my signature bow... I couldn't quite decide if I should keep it or sell it... so it's available as a sample item here.

Black peacock clutch in an iconic print

Just listed this item on folksy and etsy. It was very popular over the holidays! I love the pink and green feathers on the black background, it's so easy to wear!

Liberty lawn are so finely woven, they almost look like silk.

Perforated black patent

I love patent leather, especially in black and colour bleeds, so I've been making more patent items! A leather merchant convinced me to purchase some black perforated patent. I was not too sure at first, but now I'm quite pleased with the minimalist chic look! The picture shows a small clutch pouch that can be used as a clutch or as an organizer to store small items in a larger bag. I will be listing more items on the website and my etsy shop!

New purses for spring!

Oh shame on me, no posts in  more than a week, and I missed all of London Fashion week! Well I was away to visit family, but I'm now back and here are some new change purses! All bright and bold in luscious colours for spring! And all in super soft leathers. The boxier shapes fits more but the rounder ones can fit in a pocket! Available here!

New boxier change purses!

I like my rounded purses, they're so soft and can fit in a pocket. On the other hand, they're for loose change only so I was working on a new pattern yesterday. I am quite happy with the new "boxier" shape and it's true, it fits a lot more! See it here in dark gold leather and a quirky coral kisslock frame. And there are more to come this week and the next!

My picture of the day: Patty Boyd drawing

Another Karen Kilimnik picture, but this time a drawing. I won't be doing any drawings myslef today, but I needed something to inspire me today!

On Saturday, I taught my first class ever! I was exhausted afterwards, talking for three  hours or so is not easy! It was nice to see the little clutches the students made with me at the Make Lounge. Helping to attach nine purse frames at the same time was a bit of a challenge, but the students seemed to have enjoyed themselves!

And on Sunday, I was finishing my red checks shirt - only the pearl snap buttons to fix! Maybe I'll post of picure of it when it is finished.

Picture of the day: William Eggleston

Just like a lot of people, I'm a huge fan of William Eggleston! I love the rich colours and this picture is autumnal as well, so it's perfect for today! I love the fact it suggests travel and movement, it is so beautiful yet "unpicturesque" (if this word exists). It depicts nothing really, just an ordinary rail track, yet it is a sumptuous image. His work mesmerises me.

Upbeat and playful colours

The economic downturn, the recession, job cuts… I really feel that I need to think and make things a little bit brighter but delicate, cheerful and playful to make me smile and enliven my days.
This week, I’ve been inspired by:
  • Alexandrer Girard’s wonderful wooden dolls. I especially love the one with the pink dress, the red shoes and the black bow
  • Acrylic “diamonds” in bubble gum pink
  • Architectural geometric shapes
  • Colourful wooden toy puzzles from Naef
  • the colours and feel of pure wool felt (pic from FeltCraftStudio)
  • anything pop and bright, like this lulu guiness cluctch
The results: I've started on a new range of brighter and rounder change purses with brightly coloured kisslock frames and golden bow or acrylic stones. Below: coral and pink, coffee and taupe, red and fawn:
